The PowerTome is the only fully upgradeable ultramicrotome, with the ability to take a PTXL, the routine workhorse, and build it up to the PTPCZ research level system with computer control and HD video options. The PowerTome is capable of accommodating glass knives up to 12mm wide, triangular tungsten carbide knives, and any commercial brand of diamond knife. Various add-on components for array tomography and cryo applications are also available.
The PTPCZ features a high definition video package where the sectioning process is displayed in real-time at the center of the computer monitor. Equipped with a computer control interface, the PTPCZ enables the viewing and recording of the sectioning process in full HD for future viewing and use. All control functions can be activated by touching the control monitor screen, or by mouse, while maintaining use of the tactile digital controller.
The PT3D features a full 1 mm of advance, permitting uninterrupted, ultra thin, sectioning to a depth of one millimeter. This unique advantage is especially beneficial for 3D reconstruction work, array tomography, and any situation where high amounts of precision specimen trimming are involved. The all-in-one computer controller features a slim design 21.5” touch screen control monitor, including wireless mouse & keyboard, interconnect cables & accessories.
ATUM capable of collecting very large sets of serial sections (30,000+) in an unattended and computer controlled operation, to help reconstruct the brain’s neural pathways — a precursor to one day mapping the entire human brain. The ATUM is connected to and controlled by RMC Boeckeler’s PowerTome ultramicrotome, to form the ATUMtome (Automatic Tape Collecting Ultramicrotome). Section thickness can range from 0nm to 15μm.
Advanced 3D reconstruction and tomography are growing in use in today’s EM world. For small volumes, where tens to hundreds of sections are required, the Advanced Substrate Holder (ASH2) is favored for ease of use and speed. This newly designed Advanced Substrate Holder (ASH2) weighs less than 0.5kg and can be mounted directly onto modern ultramicrotomes without modification or the use of additional fixtures. Rapid freezing and Freeze Substitution are one method of making cellular structure and organization appear closer to the natural state but this process can limit other avenues of investigation, such as immunohistochemical applications. The LN Ultra provides optimal thermal stability necessary for producing cryosections. Capable of holding temperatures from +40°C to -185°C, the stable environment of the LN Ultra is perfect for sectioning and planing a variety of samples. Liquid Nitrogen consumption is very low, allowing for a size efficient 12-liter dewar, capable of providing a stable sectioning environment for up to nine hours, depending on your technique and application, thus saving your laboratory LN2 costs over less efficient systems.
